Annual Summit

FELC is pleased to be hosting their second annual Summit once again in Charleston, SC February 25-27, 2010 due to the fantastic weather, attractions, and countless great restaurants. We’ve put together a great summit for 2010 and we look forward to seeing all of you there!

Host Hotel: Hampton Inn, located .7 miles from Culinary Institue of Charleston's Palmer Campus and blocks from Historic downtown Charleston's fabulous restaurants, shopping and attractions. Use group code "FEL" when making reservations for room rate of $159, which includes breakfast.

If you can attend only one Education Conference in 2010, Here are Six Reasons You Should Plan to Attend the 2010 FELC Faculty Development Summit!

  1. The exciting program lineup planned for 2010 is based on the great feedback from those who attended and sponsored the 2009 FELC Faculty Development Summit.

  2. There will be a limited number of high quality Pre-Summit Master Classes that focus primarily on teaching culinary arts and hospitality education.

  3. The first day of the Summit is built around two workshops conducted by Anthony Gregorc, who conceived of the Mind Styles Model, who will shed new light on your understanding of teaching and learning (Dr. Gregorc’s bio)

  4. We will once again issue a call for refereed and non-refereed proposals for posters, standup presentations, panel discussions, and roundtables in order to provide peer-to-peer presentations to our learning community. A great way to build up your vita, too!

  5. Compete in, or help judge, the second annual FELC Ultimate Teaching Competition

  6. Registration for the conference and host hotel includes complimentary food and beverages throughout the Summit!

4:40-5:30pm   Welcome Reception featuring Gullah Tasting with Chef Kevin Mitchell
6:30-9:30pm   Dine Around (optional) - Back by popular demand for attendees and sponsors. Mercado’s Restaurant will be hosting our group as we indulge on seafood provided by Hank’s, one of Charleston ’s most popular restaurants, accompanied by pasta and dessert. Cost is $40 per person.
